Upcoming Summer Events in Catalina Island

 

The island of Catalina offers plenty of opportunities for visitors to unwind while they are on the island. Nevertheless, if you are there for the fun, you also have a generous mass of events to take part in every month, which at the very least give you bragging rights as well as plenty of experiences to take back when you leave back home. Here is a look at some of the events coming up this summer.

6/2 12th Annual Taste Around of Avalon

Get the most delicious dining with beverages from 5pm-9pm at some of the finest eateries in the region, and use your chance to vote for the best “tastes” of food, drink and dessert for this year. The event is managed by Catalina Island Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau.

6/3-6/9 4th Annual Avalon Restaurant Week

This event has to most popular restaurants serving up delectable food for the whole of the 4th Annual Avalon Restaurant Week. Join in the celebrations and sample different specially created prix fixe menus. It’s another affair managed by the Catalina Island Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Bureau.

6/11 Relay for Life Catalina

This is a 12-hour relay event aimed towards helping fight cancer, with 24/7 fundraising by dedicated teams. It is open to all and walk-in, so bring the folks along and support the cause with a donation or simply your presence. The event is held by the American Cancer Society.

6/11 Aero Club Social Fly-In (2nd Sat of the Month, Weather Permitting)

A trip from the Avalon Plaza to the Airport in the sky, which if you are not familiar with them, are both places you need to check out when on the island. Catch a plane or the Wildlands Express, anytime from 10:00 am to 02:00 pm. Chat with pilots from around the place and check out some cool airplanes.

6/15 Catalina Film Society (3rd Wednesday of Every Month)

 

This is a chance for film buffs to watch, discuss and commemorate new unreleased independent movies on a monthly basis. Join the fray on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at Overlook Hall. There is a suggested donation of $10 for non-members. Becoming a member lets you support the independent film effort as well as celebrate and educate the art of making these films.
